Gemma Downham is currently the Chief Administrative Officer for AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC) Atlantic City Campus. With over 17 years of healthcare experience, Ms. Downham has held roles in Infection Prevention and Epidemiology, Patient Safety, Quality, and Clinical Risk Management as well as overall healthcare operations. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Drexel University, is board certified in Infection Control, and is a Fellow of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology. In her role, Ms. Downham is responsible for overseeing operations for ARMC City Campus, a 180-bed urban hospital which includes a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, pediatrics, and psychiatric emergency unit. Additionally, she has system oversight for Hospital Medicine and Infectious Diseases and oversees Respiratory, Laboratory, Care Management, Physical Therapy, and Inpatient Pharmacy service lines. She is active in planning and implementing elements of the patient safety program across the health system, which includes promoting a culture of safety and working to ensure healthcare delivery team safety. Ms. Downham volunteers her time as an adviser and workgroup member to the American Society of Nephrology Emerging Threats Task Force, CDC’s Making Dialysis Safer Coalition, and serves on the Board of Directors for APIC Consulting Services.
